A Trailing Stop automatically adjusts your Stop Loss level as the market moves in your favour, helping you lock in profits while keeping the position open.
Desktop (Windows/macOS):
- Open your MT5 platform and make sure you have an active trade.
- In the Terminal window (press Ctrl+T if not visible), go to the Trade tab.
- Right-click on the open position you want to protect.
- From the menu, select Trailing Stop.
- Choose a preset value (e.g., 15 points, 50 points) or select Custom to set your own.
- Once activated, the stop loss will move with the price by the set distance.
Managing Trailing Stops:
- To remove a trailing stop, right-click the order again → Trailing Stop → None.
- To modify it, set a new value; the old one will be replaced.
- Remember: trailing stops work locally on your MT5 terminal. Your computer or device must remain connected for the trailing stop to function.
Mobile (iOS/Android):
Trailing stops are not supported on the MT5 mobile app. You can only set standard stop loss and take profit levels. For trailing stops, please use the desktop platform.
